How a positioning sprint runs — standing checkpoints, written records, and the moment decisions lock.
Statement of method
A runsheet is the schedule pinned above a press bed — every pass logged, every adjustment noted. Our working fortnight follows the same discipline. Eight checkpoints across fourteen working days. Each checkpoint produces a written record. Decisions lock at defined moments; after lock, revision requires explicit agreement from both sides.
This page describes our standard positioning sprint cadence. Retainers and documentation projects follow different rhythms, but the principle holds: work is structured, recorded and handed over cleanly.

Fortnight checkpoints
- Day one — brief reading. We receive your existing materials and read them without annotation first, then mark drift and contradiction on a second pass. Output: internal reading notes shared with you on day two.
- Day two — stakeholder interviews. Up to four structured conversations with leaders who shape or consume brand messaging. Each interview is summarised in writing within twenty-four hours.
- Day four — drift report. A written document naming every instance where your current messaging contradicts itself or your stated positioning. No recommendations yet — observation only.
- Day six — provisional framework. First draft of positioning statement, message hierarchy and audience map. Presented for challenge, not approval.
- Day eight — challenge session. Half-day workshop where leadership questions the provisional framework. We revise in the room where possible; larger revisions are noted for the lock period.
- Day ten — revision lock. Framework enters lock. Changes after this point require written change request from your side and assessment of impact on timeline.
- Day twelve — documentation draft. Full positioning document incorporating locked framework, proof architecture and channel guidance. Circulated for final review.
- Day fourteen — handover. Final document delivered with presentation deck for internal circulation. Steward training session if agreed in scope.
What gets recorded
Every checkpoint produces a dated entry in the project record — a shared document both sides can access. The record includes decisions made, questions deferred, and revisions requested. This is not project management theatre. It is the audit trail that lets your organisation understand why the positioning document reads the way it does six months later.
We do not rely on memory or meeting notes scattered across inboxes. The record is the single source of truth for the engagement. When a new marketing lead joins your team, they read the record before the final document.
When decisions lock
Revision lock on day ten is the most important moment in the fortnight. Before lock, everything is provisional. After lock, the framework is treated as agreed unless a formal change request is submitted. This prevents the common failure mode where endless revision erodes the clarity that positioning work is meant to produce.
Change requests after lock are not refused — but they are assessed for impact. A wording tweak in one proof point is quick. A fundamental repositioning is essentially a new engagement. We say so plainly rather than absorbing scope silently.
How the record is handed over
Handover on day fourteen includes the final positioning document, the presentation deck, and the complete project record. If steward training was agreed, a one-hour session covers how to recognise drift, how to use the message hierarchy, and when to escalate questions back to the studio.
After handover, editorial retainers can continue the relationship. For sprint-only engagements, we remain available for clarification questions for thirty days — not revision, but explanation of intent behind specific choices.
